Doctors

Dr. Beverly Sherman
Dr Sherman graduated from the University Of Missouri College Of
Veterinary Medicine in 1983. She practiced in Tulsa, Oklahoma and
Boise, Idaho before moving to Springfield in 1989. Dr. Sherman had
wanted to be a veterinarian ever since she was little and feels blessed
to be in such a rewarding profession. She enjoys all aspects of small
animal veterinary medicine but has a special interest in small animal
dentistry. She is a member of the AVMA, MVMA and the Veterinary Dental
Society. She is married to a great husband and father, Paul and has
four wonderful children. She has 3 dogs and two cats. Her hobbies
include hiking, camping and canoeing and she enjoys working with Girl
Scouts and coaching soccer. |

Dr. Patricia Ziegler
Dr. Ziegler grew up in Madison, Kansas—a small rural town in the heart
of the Flint Hills. She attended college at Kansas State University and
received her degree in veterinary medicine in 1989. After practicing in
Illinois for 2 ½ years, she moved to Springfield in 1992 and
joined the staff of Parkcrest Veterinary Hospital as an associate
veterinarian.
Dr.
Ziegler attends continuing education meetings throughout the year to
stay current in the field. She is also a member of the American
Veterinary Medical Association, the Missouri Veterinary Medical
Association and the Southwest Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Ziegler's other interests include competitive shooting, photography, hiking, reading and crafts.

Dr. Randy Garoutte
Dr. Garoutte earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from
Oklahoma State University in 1996 and graduated from the Oklahoma State
University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.
Originally
from Miami, Oklahoma, Dr. Garoutte has spent much of his life involved
with veterinary medicine. He began working in a veterinary practice at
the age of thirteen and soon realized that there would be no greater
career than to spend his days working with animals to help them live
long and healthy lives.
After
graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Garoutte worked at a small and
large animal practice in Anderson, Missouri for one year. He and his
family moved to Springfield in 2000. He has been married to his
wonderful wife, Teresa, since 1993 and they have two children.
Dr.
Garoutte is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and
attends continuing education meetings each year at local/national
conferences to keep up with the ever-changing medical and surgical
aspects of veterinary care.

Lucia Reid, Client Services Manager
Lucia
Reid graduated from Valencia Community College in Orlando, FL with a
degree in Business Administration/Marketing. She has had a diverse
background in various businesses, however her love for animals drew her
to the field of veterinarian medicine.
She has been at Parkcrest Veterinary Hospital for 9 years. She
currently resides with her "mane man”" Cloud Dancer, an appaloosa
horse, 3 dogs, including Dallas, a recently rescued Cocker Spaniel, 3
cats, and 3 birds. One of her birds, Kemo, enjoys sharing her morning
shower and having long talks whenever Lucia's at home. |

Cindy Cantrell, Hospital Services Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant
Cindy
Cantrell started working as a veterinary assistant in September 1980.
It was a desire to work with animals that made her seek out a job
position that enabled her to do so.
She has a houseful with 4 dogs, 3 cats, a lovebird, and a couple of
horses. She enjoys horseback riding, photography, hiking, gardening,
time with her animals and her family. Cindy enjoys helping animals and
the rewards that she gets from them, animals never leave you guessing
how they feel about you. |

Carey Rippe, Client Communications Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant
Carey has been with the Parkcrest Family since January 2000. She
primarily works as a surgical technician but also enjoys seeing daily
appointments with the doctors.
She
grew up in Springfield and graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1994.
She attended SMSU until she started her career in the veterinary
profession in 1997. She began as a receptionist but worked her way up
and soon learned the skills needed to assist the doctors.
She
has been married to John since November 1998. He is a street and sewer
construction inspector for Springfield Public Works. They just had
their first child, Olivia Dawn in November 2004. They currently live in
Battlefield with their furry babies: Molly-a 7yr old Border Collie;
Colleen-a 6yr old Border Collie and Fletcher-a 5yr old temperamental
housecat. |

Jodie Larivee-Hodson, Customer Service
Jodie
Larivee-Hodson has been at Parkcrest Veterinary Hospital since March of
2001. When she started at Parkcrest, she knew very little about
veterinary medicine, but since then has learned a great deal, and she
enjoys sharing that knowledge with other pet owners.
She and her husband have three large dogs, one small beagle, and four
cats. Jodie’s ninth pet is an African Spurred Tortoise female named
Edgar who is 8 years old. Edgar will live to be approximately 125 years
old and grow to be approximately 200 lbs. Though different, Edgar lives
in harmony with the cats and dogs, and although they aren’t sure why
this creature doesn’t have any hair, they are willing to accept her
anyway. |

Karen May, Customer Service
Karen May recently relocated to Missouri from Southern California.
She has survived an ice storm, tornado warnings, and tick season. She
lives in the country with 3 rescued dogs, a goat, chickens, and a red
fox. |

Amber Tucker, Veterinary Assistant
Amber
Tucker has worked at Parkcrest Veterinary Hospital since 2000. She
loves working with people and the animals that "own" them. Amber has
gained many of her veterinary assistant skills through on-the-job
training and attending continuing education seminars. She likes doing
dental procedures and is willing to "polish" her skills whenever
necessary. |

Becky Uchtman, Veterinary Assistant
Becky
Uchtman came to Parkcrest Veterinary Hospital in 1999. She has worked
in the veterinary field since 1993. She a BS in Animal Science and a
Master's Degree in Natural & Applied Science.
She has worked as office manager for Parkcrest for many years, but
recently she moved to part time as she and her husband Eric are
adopting a daughter from China. Anna will join the family in 2008, and
when she does she will be greeted by their dogs, cats, goats, sheep,
chickens, ducks, and bunnies on their small farm south of Fordland. |

Sarah Branson, Veterinary Assistant
Sarah
Branson joined the Parkcrest staff in July 2006, after working for 3
years at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Southwest Missouri.
She was born and raised in Springfield, and currently lives with her
daughter Madison, her fiancee Austin, her two male cats Eli and Martin,
and her dog Gretta in Rogersville, MO.

Amanda Bingaman, Veterinary Assistant
Amanda
Bingaman started at Parkcrest in March of 2007. She graduated from
Kansas State University in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal
Science. Amanda also spent 3 years working for a veterinary clinic in
Kansas.
She now lives in Springfield with her husband and her dog. Her dog's
mother, Akamai (meaning wise or clever) was owned by a Hawaiian family.
Wanting to pass that heritage on, Amanda choose the name of an adorable
Disney character: Lilo. Amanda later found out that Lilo means lost or
distant...very fitting for her hyperactive pet. She has many other pets
including horses and cats, but they are enjoying life on her parents
farm in Kansas. |

Cayla Wilson, Veterinary Assistant
Cayla
Wilson has been with Parkcrest Veterinary Hospital since February of
2007. She is currently enrolled at Crowder College in Neosho working
towards a Veterinary Technician degree.
Cayla grew up in Fordland on a family-owned dairy farm. In 2001 her
family sold the dairy farm and bought into a mixed beef herd. She has
2 Arabian horses, Buddy and Lady, and a Paint horse, Whiskey.

Liz Kawazoe, Veterinary Assistant
Liz
Kawazoe has been at Parkcrest since March of 2006. She grew up in Texas
but attended Colby College in Maine, where in 1995 she received her BA
in Biology. She worked as a research assistant at UT in Austin and as a
vet tech in College Station, Texas, before moving here in 2005. |

April Meltagarger, Veterinary Assistant
April Meltabarger is a veterinary assistant who has worked at Parkcrest
Veterinary Hospital since 1997. She graduated from Hillcrest High
School in 1996, and graduated from Ozarks Technical Community College
in 2004. She has a family, a son Nicholas, and two dogs. Jasmine, a
German Shepherd who is 9 years old and a mixed breed dog, Simon, who is
8 years old. She enjoys outdoor activities like camping, canoeing, and
gardening. |

Katrina Lindsey, Kennel Manager
Katrina
Lindsey has been with Holiday Boarding Kennel since January of 2003.
She is currently attending MSU, and in December of 2007 will receive a
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She has a 1 year old Siberian Husky
named Sadie, and a 5 year old calico cat named Calli. She likes to hang
out with her friends, go camping, floating, and pretty much anything
she can do outdoors with her dog Sadie. |

Melissa Wolven, Kennel Assistant
Melissa Wolven has been working with animals
since 2002, and has been with Holiday Boarding Kennel since May of
2007. She worked previously as a vet assistant, but moved to
Springfield to study Biology at Missouri State University.
She proudly shares her home with Poncho, a 7 year old English Springer
Spaniel who was rescued in 2005, Sally, a 4 year old calico, and
Charlie, a long-haired gray tabby. |

Carleen Deck, Groomer
Carleen
Deck has been grooming at Parkcrest Veterinary Hospital and Holiday
Boarding Kennel for about 18 years. She is very experienced in the art
of grooming and has even owned her own shop. She is known as the
"Granny Groomer" with the "magic touch."
Carleen
has two loveable Pomeranians, Precious and Abbey, and three
mischievious cats, Smokie Joe, Miss Elizabeth, and Oscar. Smokie Joe
loves to come to work with Carleen and play with her "adopted child"
Millie, Dr. Sherman's King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. Outside of
grooming, Carleen enjoys fishing, boating on the lake and walking her
dogs. |

Trish Clingman, Groomer
Trish Clinman has been grooming for Holiday Boarding Kennel since they
reopened in 2003. Trish has had a lifetime of experience grooming, as
reflected in her excellent eye for detail. When other kids had lemonade
stands, she was having a dog wash. As an adult, she continued her work
as a groomer in various veterinary clinics. Trish is a certified animal
handler and tracker. She plans to work with her puppy, Tonto, a sweet
Great Pyrenees with a lot of personality, to be certified in Search and
Rescue. This gives her the opportunity to do all the things she loves
the most: being outside, hiking, and observing other animals. Trish is
also the proud mother of Tonka, a domestic shorthair cat. |

Erica McSpadden, Groomer
Erica McSpadden previously worked as a kennel technician at Holiday
Boarding Kennel but has recently underwent training and become a
groomer. She likes to make pets beautiful, and enjoys her new position.
She and her husband Matt have a dog, Moses, and two cats, Spanky and
Carmello. She loves to hang out with her friends, go camping, travel,
and shop at the Landing with her mom and sister. |
